I Stefan

I Stefan is a feature film on the fragmented life of an art creator.

LA Underground Film Forum Committee: “we would like to take this moment to recognize I Stefan by giving you the Honorable Mention title, for your vision and the film’s unique contribution to cinema.”

What would happen if an old master would find himself in our confusing times? How would his genius fit in our egalitarian age in which everyone is special? How would he reconcile his seclusive process of creation with the autobiographic exhibitionism of the current art scene? For Stefan one thing is certain: he refuses to be smothered by the mediocracy surrounding him. Vlogging is Stefan’s weapon of choice to hypnotize his audience.

I Stefan is directed by Onno Hansen-Staszyński and Beata Staszyńska-Hansen. Beata, as a graduate of Łódź film academy, created documentary films, music video clips, and other short films but never directed a fiction feature film before. Onno’s film background is limited to directing one feature film when he was 17 and then retiring until now.

The music in the film is by the legendary Polish band Bielizna.

I Stefan is an experimental film. It was mostly filmed intuitively with an action cam (TomTom Bandit, no longer in production) without using a display or viewfinder. It was filmed without film sets or a film crew.

The filming process followed all Covid regulations of the moment.
